Leonie is a Grand Prix rider who is enthusiastic and encouraging to all her clients who range from people who are aiming to improve scores in walk trot tests to advanced horses and International Junior riders. Over the years Leonie has picked up training techniques from some of our top riders and trainers including Gareth Hughes, Henk Van Bergen, Kate Atlee, Harry Payne, Isabel Wessles, David Trot, Ferdi Eilberg, Lucy Farrer, Mette & Michelle Assouline & Michael Beining. Each of these fantastic trainers has brought invaluable insight in to how to progress any horse whatever his ability up through the levels. Leonie has trained several horses to advanced level and has learnt along the way how to approach dressage in an effective easy to follow way. Leonie has trained many different horses from Gelderlanders who can have sensitive and emotional issues to welsh ponies who are always so quick to learn – the good bits and the bad!! She has ridden and competed world class warmbloods and shire x TB at Regionals and Nationals! From all these amazing horse Leonie has become able to help horses of all types, be they sharp and easily frightened or lazy and spooky. She has a technique to help every horse!! Correct training in harmony with you and your horse is essential and all Leonie's lessons are focused on improving the horse and riders knowledge in a friendly logical way allowing the rider to fully understand the scales of training and how they apply to their horse. Lessons are make complicated issues become simple so you come away with a clear understanding of what to work on with your horse in the next week or so. If a horse doesn't understand any of the tasks then we make it simpler for them until they can then progress onto the next stage. This can take time but the rewards are well worth it – a happy healthy well trained horse will always be a pleasure to ride and compete! Leonie also uses some of her Pilates knowledge to improve the riders position and has a really good way of helping improve body coordination and flexibility. Leonie also uses in hand work to help educate the horse in both more collected work and lateral work. Leonie is passionate about her teaching and really enjoys helping people of every level so don't be shy and book a lesson now!
