DANESWOOD DRESSAGE

Well it has been a busy month for teaching, hardly finding time to ride my own at the moment!!! Managed to take some time out to go to Swallowfield with Jack – his second show, where again he was impeccably behaved. He got 69% in the prelim and 66% coming second in the novice even with after mum managed to read the test wrong! She says he was looking so nice she just kept watching and forgot to read!! Jack is by far the best horse I have ever ridden so I am so excited about him. I am determined not to rush him so will continue to train at home for the winter. He has a bit of a lorry phobia so am taking some time out to try and get him more used to travelling. He has his breakfast in the lorry most days and is starting to feel a little less anxious. He loads beautifully, just doesn’t like being in a small space bless him!! If he is feeling more confident I will try to do a few music classes with him but as he is a horse for the future I am in no rush at all!

Dawn is going really well, ready to do her first PSG soon I hope.... Canter pirouettes are awesome, tempi changes are a little less controlled! Once she start them she just tries so hard they are all over the place 1x, 2x and 3x Still need work to get them a bit more on the aids but I am thrilled with how expressive they are coming now.

My new ride Captain Magnificent managed to qualify for regionals – twice!! He got 68% in both Elem freestyle tests in our first outings together. Not bad considering I have only ridden him a handful of times and he only really started to learn simple changes a few weeks ago. He is such a joy to ride – a big thank you to his owner Kathy Warner for letting me ride him!!

Also a big thank you to Rhia Bell for asking me to ride Murph her gorgeous welsh X TB in his first affiliated novices – he got an excellent 68% and 69% and seemed to relax beautifully in the test, hopefully giving both of them more confidence for their next outing!!

Poor Michelle Depper and Curly had a disappointing Pet plans at Vale View as she managed to get disqualified for wearing a fly veil over his ears indoors which is apparently not allowed, only outdoors!! Not quite sure how it can been seen as an advantage wearing one inside as if everyone can wear them surly its not a problem ? Oh well, need to read the rule book more!!!! She only needs 3 more points to qualify for the Winter regionals now so onwards and upwards!!

SIMON PALMER WILDLIFE PHOTOGRAPHER

Congratulations to Lucy Cartwright and Samber Dancer who got an awesome 80% in their novice freestyle at Swallowfield, beating some really top horses. I created the floorplan and music so was thrilled the judge like it so much! Small mention in H&H this week for Lucy! Also congratulations to Lucy Farrer whose music I compiled for her, she qualified with 72% at Elem with Fuerst Furdinand.

I have also started working with a really sweet youngster called Fonz, a youngster bought for a very small price by Faye Hopkins to bring on as a project. He is terribly weak so we thought we would build up his strength doing some pole work, haking and lunging in the Equi Ami. To track his progress I have done a VIDEO of his work the other day, it will be very interesting to see what we can make of him!!

Looking forward to lots of clinics and shows this month so hopefully see you all there!! :)
