A big thank you to everyone who cam to support me at the Nationals this year, it was lovely to have so many friends around me cheering me on! I was a bit apprehensive in the PSG with Caitano as we were in first!! Caitano as usual tried his little heart out and we did a nice test with a few rider errors in the tempis. We got a very respectable score of 63% and came 9th which was fantastic as my goal was to be in the top tem and the prize giving. Absolut has been feeling younger every day and has been getting a bit excitable in his old age. After a particularly vigorous bucking episode in the field he managed to damage his knee and was a bit sore on it a few weeks before the Nationals so I kept him on box rest and only walked him, not the best preparation in the world!! I decided to only do one class with him and he was very excited. to be back out at a party. The trot work was awesome but he was still a little cautious in the canter especially the change to the left on to his poorly knee so we messed up a few changes which was very expensive! He still got a good score of 64% and came 13th so I was very pleased with him. He is now fully recovered and feels fabulous so will resume his normal schedule of lunge lessons and schoolmaster lessons Gaynor Morecroft and Kwaliteit and Laura Reeves and Broadstone After Hours went to the novice pet plan finals and a fabulous weekend was had by all. It was only Gaynors 4th ever affiliated show and she did a very safe soft test which she really enjoyed but unfortunately was not accurate enough. Mik loved every moment which is the most important thing as he can get a little tense in a big atmosphere so hopefully he will be Mr chilled at the next big show and Gaynor can ask a bit more of him. Laura and Mia did a very nice first test although at time she became a little deep which lost her a few marks. We really worked on this for the second round and Mia was looking amazing as she entered but unfortunately a few horse trotted up the drive by the arena and Mia got a little over excited and passaged down centre line!! A few out of control moment meant that there were no rosettes today but at least Mia is showing the potential for all the Grand prix movements!!!!! It was a really enjoyable weekend, the horses all enjoyed themselves and we all can’t wait for the summer regionals!
